There has been this debate for a very long time about how to write the about section. Let’s dive into some of the profiles who are leaders in their respective categories covering coaching, leadership, networking, and sales.
John C Maxwell

Simon Sinek

Robin Sharma

Dr.Ivan Misner

Brian Tracy

All five of them are thought leaders and have become the authority and most sort after influencers in their respective categories. Interestingly it is evident that they have come to their leadership positions before the social network era and in the real world (Based on their ages) except for Simon Sinek who has achieved his level of greatness in the social media era. All of them have written the about section in third-person language on LinkedIn. When you are climbing to success while offering your services and products with your direct effort it would be always good to write the about section in the first-person language. Once you reach an inflection point in your journey you may change the about section to third-person language.
Writing the bio in the first-person language helps in accelerating your growth. One can always ask and include a call to action in a subtle way when using the first-person language. Even though there is no right or wrong way to do it one has to choose the most effective way to achieve his or her objective.
